Back on the Non-Existent Job

Hey followers, or lack-there-of!

I know I haven't been around these parts in quite some time, but I've been quite busy.  San Diego's unusually cloudy/rainy/icky winter is FINALLY over and spring is definitely in the air.  I've been thinking of one thing lately, well, besides AP Exams... SUMMER!  This summer, I'm going to be going to Yellowstone National Park and Hawaii.  Too fun!  Here's what I'll be wearing:

1. Bathing suit. From Victoria's Secret.
And yes, I look fat in it I look just like the model.  Because, as my mom says, you can always buy something based on how it looks on the model because that's exactly how it's going to look on you.

2. Sandals. Havaianas, a mustGladiators, duh.  But maybe some new ones?  I'll keep you updated.

3. Some Tom's shoes.  Not really that cute, but oh-so-comfy.  And, it is possible to get cute-ish ones.  I'm not going to lie, though... what really sold me on them was the ah-dorable salesclerk that showed them to me at Nordstroms... but that's off-topic.
Pretty cute, right?

4. Cover-up. This one from Victoria's Secret is pretty good with my bikini (see #1).

5. High-waisted shorts.  I've been feeling the whole high-waisted thing lately because of my recent revelation: you can high-waisters with suspenders.  (Revelation courtesy of my wanna-be bestie.)    Oh yeah.  Because nothing says sexy like suspenders.

These ones are pretty cute, right?  They're from American Eagle.  My favorite mall store, I think.

And, last but not least...

6. Lunettes de soleil.  I like so many styles, and they all look so good on me, (#imconceited . Oh wait... this isn't twitter, my bad...) so I'll suggest two for y'all.
Of course, classic aviators.  If I could afford it, I'd have these.

These are kind of cute, too... (and way more affordable... and I mean WAY more.)

Retro-cool, right?  I WANT THEM.

So that was a nice run-through of what I'm going to be wearing this summer.  If that didn't get you in the summer mood, maybe this awesome song will:

 I'm out, yo.

New Year, New Style...

NOT!

At the end of December and the beginning of January, there are people talking about recreating themselves and going to the gym everyday.  Yes it's a new year, yes it's exciting, but do people seriously think that just because they write "2011" instead of "2010" when signing the date that the world has changed and they have to recreate themselves?

Now, I do believe that New Year's resolutions are fun, but only when they are small and REALISTIC.  If you have never stepped foot in a gym, is it realistic to promise that you will go to the gym everyday?  If you've always hated skirts, is it realistic for you to say that this year you are going to only wear skirts to work?  Of course not!  Just because it's a new year does not mean that something magical happened that will make you into a new person.  Instead of overly-ambitious goals such as those mentioned, try setting easily obtainable goals for yourself.  If you always wear drab neutrals, maybe your resolution could be to wear a pop of color at least twice a week.  If you want to get a bit more fit, maybe find a pair of jeans in your closet that don't fit anymore and hang them somewhere noticeable and make a resolution to fit into them by the end of the year.  (Even though New Year's has already passed, you can still make New Year's resolutions, right?  Better late than never!)

Inspiration of the Day:

Eclectic.  Wearing something that others would never dare to wear in public.  Put clothes together in a funky way.  Don't get consumed by self-conscious feelings or the people around you who insist that fitting in is key.  Fitting in is NOT key.  It's boring.  Why would you want to blend in and be forgotten when you can stand out and be remembered?
